DIJON DAY TRIPS
22 August 2010
Chatillon Sur Seine
Chatillon is accessible by bus from Dijon for a lovely Sunday afternoon outing to the pretty town, with a spring, and important Museum.
BEAUNE
Beaune is so easily accessible from Dijon by train or by bus that it should be considered the first outing, after exploring Dijon, of course.
I recommend taking the train, because there or so many of them, and then following the signs to the Office of Tourism. If you see no signs, head perpendicular from the train station, until you see the fortifications of the inner city, and follow the ramparts around until you find the Office of Tourism, which is located on your right, in the same place as the PORTE MARIE DE BOURGOGNE and the Musée de Beux-Arts. They are not very friendly in the Office. You need to know what you want. Ask for the map that shows all the restaurants, or the hotels, and see what you get. Ask them how to get to the Passage Sainte Hélène.
From the Office of Tourism, you can visit the Musée, but afterwards, continue through to the back of this Office, to the Passage, and you will come to the Place Carnot, which is the heart of the village. If you then take a right, down Rue Rolin, you will be at Place de la Halle, and voila, the Hôtel Dieu, Hospice de Beaune.
